Memory Care - For Families
The best way to advocate for persons with Alzheimer’s disease is to prepare with them the plan of care they would like to receive, well before the late stages of the disease. Doing so will enable you to respect their wishes and move forward knowing you are doing the right thing for your loved one. Lakewood Health System Spiritual Care and Social Services teams can provide more information about this advance planning and legal documentation, known as a Healthcare Directive.
Accepting the memory loss of a loved one can be a difficult process. Like a trusted friend, we’re here to provide regular on-going support throughout the adjustment process. We can advise you on progressive communication skills and offer perspectives on expectations with your loved ones.
To further support families, we have introduced Family Council gatherings. Families are invited into this supportive group environment for encouragement and information sharing.
