Newborn Hearing Screening
As the very first in the state of Minnesota to implement a universal newborn hearing screening program, all babies born at Lakewood Health System are screened by our lab team for hearing loss before discharge.
Early identification of even a minimal hearing loss is critical to a child's development. The hospital works with the Lakewood Clinic to provide education and the appropriate intervention if needed.
Our newborn hearing screening program has been recognized in the past as the winner of the Minnesota Hospital and Healthcare Partnership Patient Enhancement Award and has also been given the Distinguished Service Award by the Minnesota Speech, Language and Hearing Association.
