Spiritual Care

The Spiritual Health Services at Lakewood Health System seek to be the bridge that connects your spirituality and your health. Spirituality is the synthesis of our thinking, feeling, and acting that brings us our purpose for living, our sense of direction, and guides our relationships with others including our faith in God or someone else.

A major illness, personal loss, emotional problem, or spiritual crisis might originate in one area of our lives, but it doesn’t remain there. Each of us is a complex individual with many different facets, and the events of our lives affect every part of being. It can be encouraging knowing that we can call upon all our resources -- body, mind, and spirit -- to find healing in times of brokenness.

Our Spiritual Health Team is willing to provide assistance to each patient according to their needs and requests. Through pastoral presence, life review, interactive listening, spiritual counseling and optional prayer, the chaplain can assist the patient in reframing his/her view of life in such a way as to draw upon their own spiritual resources for empowerment, faith, and healing. This can lead to a positive turn around in our hearts which often contributes to faster recoveries.
