Women @ Heart
The Women at Heart Project, a program collaborative between Lakewood Health System and Central Minnesota Heart, is specifically tailored to meet the needs of women interested in improving and protecting their health–now and for years to come. We offer a comprehensive plan. The unique feature of our plan is the professional consultations. We not only identify your risk factors but also work with you to set goals and develop a plan to optimize your heart health.
At the end of your first visit, all participants receive a personalized heart health book that includes all your test results, an explanation of your risk factors and their significance, and a comprehensive plan designed just for you – complete with attainable goals and journal to track your results.
30-Minute Consultations
Cardiology Nurse Specialist: Multiple tests will be done to evaluate your cardiac risk factors. A nurse specialist will review and discuss her findings using an easy to view chart which not only shows your test results but also compares them with nationally recognized standards. Based on the diagnostic tests, your 10-year risk for heart attack will
be calculated.
Cardiac Dietitian: How many times have you tried a diet to lose weight and improve your health only to see the pounds reappear? Are you interested in trying to reduce your cholesterol by making dietary changes before you consider taking medications? Have your diet analyzed by an expert. She will help identify detrimental eating habits and help design a tasty easy eating plan based on your food
preferences. Learn to eat healthy without being hungry.
Exercise Physiologist: Have you started several exercise programs in the past without success? Our exercise specialist can help design a fitness plan that will not only improve your heart health but also be fun and enjoyable.
